예수, 그는 누구십니까? Jesus, who is he?

Luke 1:26~38

 

 

오늘은 대강절 둘째 주일을 맞이 했습니다. 지난 주에 우리는 마태복음 1장을 통해서 예수님이 만드신 거룩한 계보에 대해 살펴 보았습니다. 예수님의 계보는 예수님 탄생 이전의 아브라함부터 예수님까지의 계보와 예수님 이후의 영적으로 거듭난 생명책에 기록된 우리의 이름들도 되어 있다고 말씀드렸습니다. 참으로 오직 은혜, 오직 믿음으로 우리의 이름을 생명책에 기록하셨다고 하니 얼마나 감사하고 놀라운 일입니까? 나 같은 죄인을 생명책에 기록하여 주심을 감사하며 더욱 사모하는 마음으로 우리 주님과 동행하는 복 된 삶을 사시기를 소원합니다. 오늘은 누가복음에서 예수님의 탄생에 대해서 어떻게 기록하였는가를 살펴보기 원합니다. 먼저 누가복음 1:1,2절을 보세요. “우리 중에 이루어진 사실에 대하여 / 처음부터 목격자와 말씀의 일꾼 된 자들이 전하여 준 그대로 내력을 저술하려고 붓을 든 사람이 많은지라” 라고 했어요. 여기 매우 중요한 표현이 나오는데 먼저 “우리 중에 이루어진 사실에 대하여” 라고 했어요. 곧 예수님의 탄생과 사역이 역사적 사실임을 가장 먼저 천명하는 것입니다. 만약 예수님이 역사적 인물이 아니라면 저와 여러분, 우리 믿는 자들이 가장 불쌍한 자들이 되는 것입니다. 그러나 성경은 이것이 역사적 사실임을 가장 먼저 증거하면서 누가복음을 시작합니다. 그리고 “처음부터 목격자와 말씀의 일꾼 된 자들이 전하여 준 그대로” 기록하려는 자들이 많았다고 했습니다. 아마 복음서 저자과 더불어 이 역사적 사건을 기록하려는 자들이 있었을 것입니다. 그 중에 한 사람이 바로 누가였는데 그는 “그 모든 일을 근원부터 자세히 살핀 나도”(3a) 라고 하므로 성령의 감동하심으로 철저히 연구하고 살펴서 기록했다고 하는 것입니다. 사랑하는 여러분! 당시에 많은 사람들이 이 사실들을 기록했다고 해도 그것은 소위 역사책은 될 수 있지만 성경이 될 수는 없습니다. 왜 그렇습니까? 성경은 원저자이신 성령 하나님의 감동하심으로 받은 자들이 역사적 계시로 기록한 것이기 때문입니다. 따라서 마태, 마가, 누가, 요한복음서 만이 신약 계시로서 성경에 기록된 것입니다. 따라서 인간이 자신의 이성으로 기록한 역사책과 성령의 감동하심으로 기록된 성경과는 완전히 다른 것임을 꼭 기억하시기 바랍니다. 그러면 오늘 본문을 통해서 우리에게 주시는 메시지는 무엇입니까?

 

Today marks the second Sunday of Advent. Last week we looked at the holy genealogy created by Jesus through Matthew chapter 1. I said that the genealogy of Jesus includes the genealogy from Abraham before the birth of Jesus to Jesus, and our names written in the spiritually regenerated book of life after Jesus. Truly, how grateful and amazing it is to say that we have written our names in the book of life by grace alone and faith alone. Thank you for writing a sinner like me in the book of life, and I wish you to live a blessed life walking with our Lord with more longing. Today, I want to look at how Luke records the birth of Jesus. First, look at Luke 1:1,2. He said, “Inasmuch as many have undertaken to compile a narrative of the things that have been accomplished among us, 2 just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word have delivered them to us.” Here comes a very important expression, first of all, “that have been accomplished among us.” That is, it is the first to declare that the birth and work of Jesus are historical facts. If Jesus is not a historical figure, then me, you, and us believers will be the most pitiful. However, the Bible begins the Gospel of Luke by first testifying that this is a historical fact. And he said that there were many people who wanted to record “just as they were delivered by those who were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word from the beginning.” Perhaps there were those who, along with the writers of the Gospels, wanted to record this historical event. One of them was Luke, who said, “it seemed good to me also, having followed all things closely for some time past.”(3a). Dear all! Even if many people at the time recorded these facts, it could be a so-called history book, but not the Bible. Why? This is because the Bible was written as a historical revelation by those who received it under the inspiration of God the Holy Spirit, the original author. Therefore, only the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are recorded in the Bible as New Testament revelations. Therefore, please remember that it is completely different from the history books written by man with his own reason and the Bible written by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. So, what message is given to us through today's text?

1. 은혜를 받은 자가 누구입니까?

하나님께서는 가브리엘 천사를 갈릴리 나사렛에 있는 마리아에게 보내십니다. 마리아는 당시 다윗의 자손 요셉과 약혼한 처녀였습니다. 가브리엘은 마리아에게 나타나 가장 먼저 무엇이라고 합니까? 28a절을 보세요. “은혜를 받은 자여”라고 해요. 마리아가 놀랍고 두려워하면서 이 어찌 된 일인가 라고 생각할 때에 가브리엘은 또 무엇이라고 합니까? “마리아여 무서워하지 말라 네가 하나님께 은혜를 입었느니라”(30) 라고 해요. 곧 가브리엘은 마리아에게 두 번이나 은혜를 받은 자라고 말하고 있는 것입니다. 한 마디로 말씀드리면 마리아는 하나님으로부터 은혜를 입은 여인이 된 것입니다. 왜요? 하나님께서는 창세기 3장 15절에서 여자의 후손을 보내 주심으로 죄 아래 있는 인간을 구원하시겠다고 하셨는데 바로 그 주인공인 예수님을 잉태하고 낳고 기르는 어머니로 선택을 받았으니 얼마나 큰 은혜를 입은 것입니까? 아마 인류 역사 가운데 수 많은 여인이 있지만 그 가운데서 가장 큰 은혜를 입은 자가 바로 마리아 일 것입니다. 그러나 우리가 잊지 말아야 할 것은 아무리 마리아가 이러한 큰 은혜를 입은 자가 할지라도 그는 결코 신이 아닙니다. 절대 그를 숭배하거나 경배해서는 안됩니다. 마리아 또한 우리와 동일한 인간에 불과 하기 때문입니다.      

그렇다면 과연 마리아만 은혜를 입은 자입니까? 사랑하는 여러분! 하나님께서 누구를 위하여 예수님을 이 세상에 보내시고, 마리아의 몸에서 태어나게 하십니까? 바로 아브라함에게 하신 말씀 “또 네 씨로 말미암아 천하 만민이 복을 받으리라”(창22:18a) 이 언약을 이루기 위해서 예수님을 마리아의 몸을 통해 보내시는 것입니다. 그러므로 누가 은혜를 입은 자입니까? 누가 복을 받은 자입니까? 바로 예수님을 인격적으로 영접하고 성령으로 말미암아 거듭난 자들이 복을 받은 자요, 은혜를 입은 자들인 것입니다. 아마 이 아침에 가브라엘 천사장이 우리에게 나타난다면 동일하게 말할 것입니다. “은혜를 받은 자요, 은혜를 입은 자요, 주께서 너와 함께 하심이라” 참으로 저와 여러분이 하나님께 은혜를 받은 자임을 알고 감사와 찬양 가운데 오직 예수, 오직 믿음, 오직 은혜 가운데 충만하기를 간절히 소원합니다.   

 

1. Who received grace?

God sends the angel Gabriel to Mary in Nazareth in Galilee. Mary was then a virgin engaged to Joseph, the son of David. What is the first thing Gabriel says when he appears to Mary? See verse 28a.“O favored one, the Lord is with you.” What else does Gabriel say when Mary is amazed and frightened and wondered what was going on? “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God”(30). In other words, Gabriel is saying that Mary was twice favored. In a nutshell, Mary has become a woman who has been favored by God.Why? In Genesis 3:15, God said that He would save mankind from sin by sending a woman's descendant. But how much grace did she receive because she was chosen as the mother who conceived, gave birth to, and raised Jesus, the very main character. Perhaps there are many women in the history of mankind, but the one who received the greatest grace among them is probably Mary. However, we must not forget that no matter how much Mary has received such great grace, she is by no means a god. Never worship her because Mary is just a human being just like us. If so, is she really the only one who has received her favor? Dear all! For whom did God send Jesus into this world, to be born in the body of Mary? This is what he said to Abraham, “And in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed”(Genesis 22:18a). To fulfill this covenant, Jesus was sent through the body of Mary. So, who is favored? Who is the blessed one? Those who have personally received Jesus and are born again through the Holy Spirit are those who have received blessings and have received grace. Perhaps the same will be said if Archangel Gabriel appeared to us this morning. “You have received favor, you have found favor, and the Lord is with you” Knowing that you and I are those who have received grace from God, I sincerely hope that you will be filled with thanksgiving and praise, Jesus alone, faith alone, and grace alone.

1. 그는 누구십니까?

그러면 이제 가브리엘은 마리아에게 그가 낳을 아들이 누구라고 소개를 합니까? 과연 마리아를 통해서 오시는 여자의 후손, 메시아는 누구십니까?

 

(1)   바로 예수이십니다.

 

31절을 보세요. “보라 네가 잉태하여 아들을 낳으리니 그 이름을 예수라 하라” 라고 했어요. 하나님께서는 가브리엘을 통해 “그 이름을 예수라 하라” 고 하심으로 아들의 이름을 친히 지어 주셨어요. 그러면 왜 이름을 예수라고 지어 주셨을까요? 그 이름에는 놀라운 의미가 담겨져 있기 때문입니다. 구약에서 우리가 잘 아는 “여호수아”(יהושוע) 라는 이름이 있는데 단축형이 바로 “예수아”(ישוע)입니다. 그런데 그 뜻이 바로 “여호와는 구원이시다” 란 말입니다. 바로 이 이름이 신약에서 헬라어로 “’Ιησους”(예수스)라고 한 것입니다. 그러므로 우리 말로 예수라고 하는 이름이 매우 정확한 발음인 것입니다. 마태복음 1장에서는 가브리엘이 마리아를 만난 후에 그의 정혼자 요셉에게 나타나서 똑같은 말을 합니다. 마1:21절을 보세요. “아들을 낳으리니 이름을 예수라 하라 이는 그가 자기 백성을 그들의 죄에서 구원할 자이심이라 하니라” 고 했어요. 여기서는 예수님의 이름의 뜻과 그 이름대로 자기 백성을 죄 가운데서 구원할 것임을 계시하고 있는 것입니다. 사랑하는 여러분! 그렇습니다. 하나님께서 그의 아들에게 예수 라는 이름을 주셨는데 그 이름이 인류 역사상 가장 위대하고 존귀한 이름인 것입니다. 왜요? 예수님께서는 그 이름대로 죄 가운데서 영원히 형벌 받을 우리를 구원해 내셨기 때문입니다. 그러므로 하늘 위나 땅 위나 땅 아래에 있는 자들이 바로 예수 그 이름 앞에 무릎을 꿇게 하시는 것입니다. 오직 그 이름 예수, 예수 이름만을 부르며 사시기를 간절히 소원합니다.   

 

(2)   큰 자이십니다.

 

32a절을 보세요. “그가 큰 자가 되고” 라고 했어요. 예수님이 큰 자가 되신다는 것입니다. 여기서 큰 자라는 말은 “메가스”(μεγας)라는 말인데 “중요한, 위대한, 큰, 고귀한, 유명한” 그런 의미입니다. 곧 예수님께서 가장 중요하고, 가장 위대하며, 가장 크시고, 가장 고귀한 분이 되신다는 말입니다. 과연 예수님보다 더 큰 이가 어디 계시며, 예수님보다 위대하신 분이 어디에 있습니까? 사랑하는 여러분! 어떤 권력자가 예수님보다 큽니까? 어떤 사상가가 예수님보다 위대합니까? 어떤 종교가가 예수님보다 고귀합니까? 우리가 이미 히브리서에서 보았지요? 히브리서는 세상 그 누구와도 비교할 수 없는 우리 주 예수 그리스도를 증거하고 있는 것입니다. 오직 우리 주 예수님만이 이 우주와 역사 가운데 가장 중요하고, 위대하시며, 크고 고귀하신 구원의 주이신 것입니다. 오직 이처럼 크고 위대하신 예수님만을 높이고 찬양하는 저와 여러분이 되시길 소원합니다.

 

(3)   지극히 높으신 이의 아들이십니다.

 

32b절을 보세요. “지극히 높으신 이의 아들이라 일컬어 질 것이요” 라고 했어요. 여기서 “지극히 높으신 이”가 누구십니까? 하나님을 말씀하는 것입니다. 이 표현은 구약에 자주 등장하는데 하나님의 비교할 수 없는 탁월성과 초월성을 말씀하는 것입니다. 그런데 바로 예수님이 이처럼 지극히 높으신 하나님 아버지의 아들로 일컬음을 받게 될 것이라는 것입니다. 곧 예수님께서 하나님의 독생하신 아들이시라는 것입니다. 곧 마리아가 지금 잉태하여 낳는 아들이 누구의 아들이시라는 것입니까? 바로 하나님의 아들이시라는 것입니다. 사실 하나님의 아들이시라는 말은 하나님이라는 말씀입니다. 이것은 이사야  선지자의 예언이 이루어졌음을 증거하는 것입니다. 이사야 9:6절을 보세요. “이는 한 아기가 우리에게 났고 한 아들을 우리에게 주신 바 되었는데 그의 어깨에는 정사를 메었고 그의 이름은 기묘자라, 모사라, 전능하신 하나님이라, 영존하시는 아버지시라, 평강의 왕이라 할 것임이라” 했어요. 바로 이 말씀대로 예수님은 하나님의 아들, 곧 하나님이신 것입니다. 곧 성부 하나님과 함께 성자 하나님으로 영원부터 존재하시다 우리를 구원하러 인간으로 탄생하신 것입니다. 따라서 예수님이 점점 자신을 드러내실 때 사람들은 예수님을 하나님의 아들이라고 부를 것이라고 가브리엘이 예언을 한 것입니다. 사랑하는 여러분! 빌립보서 2장에서 예수님에 대해 어떻게 말씀했습니까? “그는 근본 하나님의 본체시나 하나님과 동등 됨을 취할 것으로 여기지 아니하시고, 오히려 자기를 비워 종의 형체를 가지사 사람들과 같이 되셨고, 사람의 모양으로 나타나사 자기를 낮추시고 죽기까지 복종하셨으니 곧 십자가에 죽으심이라”(빌2:6~8) 고 했어요. 참으로 우리 예수님은 참 하나님이신데 참 인간으로 낮아지셔서 우리를 구원하러 오신 것입니다.

 

(4)   다윗의 왕위를 받으신 분입니다.

 

32c절을 보세요. “주 하나님께서 그 조상 다윗의 왕위를 그에게 주시리니” 라고 했어요. 이것은 하나님께서 다윗 왕에게 하신 언약이 그의 후손으로 오신 예수님을 통해 성취되는 것을 말씀하시는 것입니다. 사무엘하 7:12,13절을 보세요. “네 수한이 차서 네 조상들과 함께 누울 때에 내가 네 몸에서 날 네 씨를 네 뒤에 세워 그의 나라를 견고하게 하리라 / 그는 내 이름을 위하여 집을 건축할 것이요 나는 그의 나라 왕위를 영원히 견고하게 하리라” 고 하셨어요. 여기서 “네 몸에서 날 네 씨”는 1차적으로 솔로몬을 말하지만 사실 그것은 예수님을 예표하는 것입니다. 곧 다윗의 씨 가운데 예수님을 보내셔서 지금 하신 이 약속, 즉 다윗의 나라를 견고하게 하시겠다는 것입니다. 계속해서 사무엘하 7:16절을 보세요. “네 집과 네 나라가 내 앞에서 영원히 보존되고 네 왕위가 영원히 견고하리라 하셨다 하라” 고 했습니다.  하나님께서 예수님을 보내시는 것은 이 약속대로 다윗의 왕권을 갖고 와서 그의 나라를 영원토록 세우시겠다는 것을 이제 이루시는 것입니다. 33절을 보세요. “영원히 야곱의 집을 왕으로 다스리실 것이며 그 나라가 무궁하리라”고 하신 것입니다. 사랑하는 여러분! 그러면 이제 종합해서 다시 한번 보세요. 가브리엘이 증거하는 마리아에게서 날 예수는 누구시라는 것입니까? 예수님은 바로 죄 가운데서 자기 백성을 구원하실 구세주이시며, 가장 위대하고 큰 자이시며, 가장 높으신 하나님의 아들이시고, 약속하신대로 다윗의 왕권을 갖고 오셔서 다스리시며, 하나님의 영원한 나라를 세우시고 우리를 그 나라로 인도하시는 분이신 것입니다. 그러므로 이 세상에서 가장 존귀한 이름이 무엇입니까? 바로 예수입니다. 세상 죄악 가운데서 우리를 구원하실 유일하신 분은 누구십니까? 바로 예수입니다. 처음 세상을 다 없게 하시고 영원한 하나님 나라를 통치하실 이는 누구십니까? 바로 예수입니다. 사망권세를 깨시고 부활하시고 승천하셔서 다시 오심으로 이 구원을 완성하실 분은 누구십니까? 바로 예수입니다. 그러므로 오늘 가브리엘이 마리아에게 알리고, 요셉에게 알린 그 이름 예수가 우리에게는 가장 중요한 이름이요, 전부인 것입니다. 오직 예수, 오직 그 이름만 의지하여 사시기를 간절히 축원합니다.

 

2. Who is he?

 

Now, then, does Gabriel introduce Mary to who the son she will give birth to? Who is the Messiah, the descendant of the woman who comes through Mary?

 

(1) It is Jesus.

 

Look at verse 31. He said, “And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus.” God gave Gabriel a name for his son by saying, “Call his name Jesus.” Then why did he name him Jesus? Because the name has an amazing meaning. In the Old Testament, there is a well-known name “Joshua” (יהושוע), the shortened form being “Yeshua” (ישוע). But that's exactly what it means, "The Lord is salvation." It is this name in the New Testament that is called “’Ιησους” (Jesus) in Greek. Therefore, the name Jesus in our language is a very correct pronunciation. In Matthew 1, after meeting Mary, Gabriel appears to his fiancée Joseph and says the same thing. Look at Matthew 1:21. “She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” Here it is revealing the meaning of the name of Jesus and that he will save his people from their sins according to his name. Dear all! That's right. God gave his son the name Jesus, and that name is the greatest and most honorable name in human history. Why? Because Jesus saved us from eternal punishment from our sins according to his name. Therefore, those who are in heaven or on earth or under the earth should kneel before the name of Jesus. I earnestly wish that you live by calling on only the name of Jesus, the name of Jesus.

 

(2) He is a great one.

 

See verse 32a. “He will be great,” That Jesus is going to be great. The word for great here is “mega” (μεγας), which means “important, great, noble, famous”. That is, Jesus becomes the most important, the greatest, and the noblest. Who is greater than Jesus, and who is greater than Jesus? Dear all! What power is greater than Jesus? Which thinker is greater than Jesus? Which religion is more noble than Jesus? Have we already seen it in Hebrews? The book of Hebrews testifies of our Lord Jesus Christ, who cannot be compared with anyone in the world. Only our Lord Jesus is the most important, great, and noble Lord of salvation in this universe and history. I hope that you and I will only exalt and praise Jesus, who is so great.

 

(3) He is the Son of the Most High.

 

See verse 32b. “He will be called the Son of the Most High,” he said. Who is “the Most High” here? It is speaking of God. This expression, which appears frequently in the Old Testament, speaks of God's incomparable excellence and transcendence. But it is precisely that Jesus will be called the Son of the Most High Heavenly Father. That is, Jesus is the only begotten Son of God. That is, whose son is the son that Mary is now conceived and bore? It means that Jesus is the Son of God. In fact, to say that Jesus is the Son of God is to say that Jesus is God. This is proof that the prophecy of the prophet Isaiah has come true. Look at Isaiah 9:6. “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Done according to these words, Jesus is the Son of God, that is, God. That is, God the Father and God the Son existed from eternity, and He was born as a human being to save us. Therefore, Gabriel prophesied that when Jesus revealed Himself more and more, people would call Him the Son of God. Dear all! What did Philippians 2 say about Jesus? “Who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”(Philippians 2:6-8). Truly, our Jesus is the true God, and He humbled himself as a true man and came to save us.

 

(4) He is the one who received the throne of David.

 

See verse 32c. “And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David,” This is speaking of the fulfillment of God's covenant with King David through Jesus, who came as his descendant. Look at 2 Samuel 7:12,13. “When your days are fulfilled and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, who shall come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. 13 He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.” Here, “I will raise up your offspring after you, who shall come from your body” refers primarily to Solomon, but in fact, it is a type of Jesus. That is, by sending Jesus from the seed of David, he will establish this promise he has made now, namely, the kingdom of David. Continue to 2 Samuel 7:16. “And your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever before me. Your throne shall be established forever.” God sending Jesus is now fulfilling his promise to come with David's kingship and establish his kingdom forever. Look at verse 33. He said, “And he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”

Dear all! So, take a look at it again now. Who is the Jesus from Mary that Gabriel testifies? Jesus is the very Savior who will save His people from their sins, the greatest, the Son of the Most High God, who came to reign with the kingship of David as promised, to establish the eternal kingdom of God, and to bring us into that kingdom. Jesus is the one who guides. So, what is the most honorable name in the world? That is Jesus. Who is the only one who can save us from the sins of the world? That is Jesus. Who will destroy the first world and rule the eternal kingdom of God? That is Jesus. Who will complete this salvation by breaking the power of his death, resurrecting, ascending into heaven, and coming again? That is Jesus. Therefore, the name Gabriel made known to Mary and to Joseph today, Jesus, is the most important name to us and is everything. I earnestly pray that you will live by relying only on Jesus, only in His name.

자신에게서 태어 날 아기가 이렇게 되리라는 말을 듣고 마리아는 무엇이라고 합니까? “나는 남자를 알지 못하니 어찌 이 일이 있으리이까?”(34) 라고 물어요. 그 때 가브리엘은 어떻게 대답합니까? 35절을 보세요. “천사가 대답하여 이르되 성령이 네게 임하시고 지극히 높으신 이의 능력이 너를 덮으시리니 이러므로 나실 바 거룩한 이는 하나님의 아들이라 일컬어지리라”고 했어요. 이제 성령께서 마리아에게 충만히 임하시고, 하나님의 능력이 그를 덮으신다고 했어요. 마치 시내산과 성막 지성소에 구름이 덮인 것 같이 마리아의 몸을 성령께서 덮으심으로 그 능력으로 예수님을 잉태하게 하시는 것입니다. 따라서 마태복음에서 가브리엘은 요셉에게 이렇게 말합니다. “다윗의 자손 요셉아 네 아내 마리아 데려 오기를 무서워하지 말라 그에게 잉태된 자는 성령으로 된 것이라”(마1:20b) 그러면 예수님께서 성령으로 잉태되었다는 것은 무엇을 말씀하는 것입니까? 성령으로 잉태되셨기에 하나님의 아들이 되시는 것이며, 첫째 아담으로부터 오는 원죄가 차단되고 죄가 없으신 완전하고 의로운 인간이 되신 것입니다. 그런데 놀랍게도 예수님께서는 하나님 나라에 들어 갈 수 있는 자가 누구라고 했습니까? 요한복음 3:3절을 보세요. “사람이 거듭나지 아니하면 하나님 나라를 볼 수 없느니라”고 하셨어요. 요3:5절에도 “사람이 물과 성령으로 나지 아니하면 하나님 나라에 들어갈 수 없느니라”고 하셨어요. 여기서 “물과 성령으로” 라고 하신 것은 “성령으로 죄가 깨끗하게 씻어짐”을 말씀하시는 것입니다. 그러므로 성령으로 영이 거듭 태어난 자만이 하나님 나라에 들어 갈 수 있다는 것입니다. 다른 말로 하면 성령으로 거듭 난 자만이 하나님 나라에 계보에 이름이 기록되는 것입니다. 곧 예수님의 가족이 되는 것입니다. 여기 보세요. 예수님은 성령으로 잉태되셨고, 우리는 성령으로 거듭 태어남으로 성령 안에서 전혀 새로운 예수님의 가족이 탄생하는 것입니다. 이처럼 우리는 인간의 의와 공로로 예수님의 가족이 되는 것이 아니라 오직 성령으로 거듭남으로 예수님의 가족이 되는 것입니다. 사랑하는 여러분! 참으로 성령 안에서 예수님이 우리의 구원 주가 되시고, 성령으로 우리를 거듭나게 하심으로 예수님의 가족이 되게 하심에 감사하면서 그 놀라운 이름을 찬양하며 사모하며 나아가시기를 간절히 소원합니다.

 

2. How do we become part of Jesus' family?

 

What does Mary say when she hears that the baby she will give birth to will be like this? “And Mary said to the angel, "How will this be, since I am a virgin?”(34) she asks. How does Gabriel respond then? Look at verse 35. "And the angel answered her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy--the Son of God." Now, the Holy Spirit came to fill Mary, and the power of God overshadowed her. Just as a cloud covered Mount Sinai and the Most Holy of the Tabernacle, the Holy Spirit covered Mary's body so that she could conceive of Jesus by that power. So, in the Gospel of Matthew, Gabriel says to Joseph: “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.”(Matthew 1:20b) So what does it mean to say that Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit? Because he was conceived by the Holy Spirit, he became the Son of God, and the original sin that came from the first Adam was cut off and he became a perfect and righteous man without sin. But surprisingly, who did Jesus say can enter the kingdom of God? Look at John 3:3. He said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” In John 3:5, he said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” Here, when he said “by water and the Spirit” he was referring to “the cleansing of sins by the Spirit.” Therefore, only those who are born again by the Holy Spirit can enter the kingdom of God. In other words, only those who have been born again by the Holy Spirit will have their names recorded in the genealogy in the kingdom of God. You will soon become part of the family of Jesus. Look here. Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and by being born again by the Holy Spirit, a whole new family of Jesus is born in the Holy Spirit. In this way, we do not become members of the family of Jesus because of human righteousness and merit, but only through being born again through the Holy Spirit. Dear all! Indeed, in the Holy Spirit, Jesus becomes our Savior, and by regenerating us through the Holy Spirit, we earnestly hope that you will go forth praising and longing for that wonderful name, thanking Jesus for making us into the family of Jesus.

 

3.하나님의 모든 말씀은 능치 못하심이 없습니다.

 

자신의 몸에서 성령으로 잉태 된 예수님이 탄생한다는 소식을 들은 마리아는 계속해서 놀라지 않을 수 없었습니다. 그러나 이러한 마리아에게 가브리엘은 무엇이라고 합니까? 36절을 보세요. “네 친족 엘리사벳도 늙어서 아들을 배었느니라 본래 임신하지 못한다고 알려진 이가 이미 여섯 달이 되었나니 대저 하나님의 모든 말씀은 능하지 못하심이 없느니라” 고 해요. 그렇습니다. 하나님께서는 이미 구약에 이사야와 말라기 선지자를 통해 예수님보다 앞서 세례 요한을 보내신다고 예언하신대로 6개월 전에 늙은 엘리사벳이 세례 요한을 잉태하게 하셨습니다. 엘리사벳은 이미 임신하지 못한다고 알려진 자였습니다. 그러나 하나님의 예언의 말씀대로 마치 사라처럼 엘리사벳도 믿을 수 없는 임신을 한 것입니다. 이 사건을 누가 잘 알고 있습니까? 바로 친척인 마리아가 잘 알고 있는 것입니다. 그러므로 엘리사벳이 아기를 임신했다는 사실은 마리아에게는 큰 충격으로 다가 왔을 것입니다. 어떤 충격입니까? 가브리엘이 말한 “하나님의 모든 말씀은 능하지 못하심이 없느니라”는 말씀입니다. 아마 마리아는 ‘정말 그러네. 하나님의 모든 말씀은 능치 못함이 없으시네. 어떻게 늙은 엘리사벳이 아기를 갖지. 할렐루야’ 라고 했을 거예요. 이제 마리아는 무엇이라 대답합니까? 38절을 보세요. “마리아가 이르되 주의 여종이오니 말씀대로 내게 이루어지이다 하매 천사가 떠나가니라” 여러분! 비로소 마리아는 고백합니다. 무엇을 고백합니까? 자신은 하나님의 종이오니 주인의 말씀대로 내게 이루어지이다 라고 그 말씀을 온전히 받아 들이는 것입니다. 참으로 저와 여러분에게, 여러분의 가정에, 또 우리 공동체를 향하신 하나님의 능하지 못하심이 없는 모든 말씀이 그대로 그대로 이루어지기를 간절히 간절히 소원합니다. 사랑하는 여러분! 하나님 아버지를 보세요. 저와 여러분을 위해 이처럼 위대한 일을 행하신 하나님 아버지를 보세요. 우리 구주 예수님을 보세요. 저와 여러분을 위해 이처럼 낮고 낮은 자리로 친히 내려오신 예수님을 보세요. 저와 여러분을 위해 성령으로 잉태하시고 성령으로 거듭나게 하신 은혜를 보세요. 참으로 감당할 수 없는 은혜를 입은 자가 바로 저와 여러분인 것입니다. 사랑하는 여러분! 구원은 결코 저와 여러분에게서 나오는 것이 아닙니다. 오직 그 이름 예수로부터 나오는 것입니다. 그러기에 안전하고 흔들림이 없으며 영원히 견고한 것입니다. 만약 구원의 근거가 저와 여러분에게 있다면 날마다 우리는 구원에 대한 불확신 가운데서 흔들릴 것입니다. 그러나 구원은 자기 아들을 아낌없이 우리에게 내어 주신 하나님으로부터 오며, 죽기까지 복종하심으로 기쁨으로 우리의 대속 제물되신 예수님으로부터 오고, 우리 안에 오셔서 우리를 온전히 거듭나게 하심으로 하나님의 자녀가 되게 하신 성령으로부터 오는 것입니다. 그러기에 우리는 바로 그 이름 예수를 영원 영원히 찬양하는 것입니다. 아멘. 

 

3. All the words of God cannot fail.

Mary continued to be amazed when she heard the news of the birth of Jesus, conceived by the Holy Spirit in her own body. But what does Gabriel say to this Mary? Look at verse 36. "And behold, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son, and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren." That's right. As God had already foretold in the Old Testament that He would send John the Baptist ahead of Jesus through the prophets Isaiah and Malachi in the Old Testament, six months ago, Elisabeth, who was old, conceived John the Baptist. She was Elizabeth and she was already known to be barren. But just like Sarah, according to God's prophecy, she could not believe Elizabeth was pregnant. Who knows about this case? That is exactly what her relative, Maria, is well acquainted with. Therefore, the fact that Elizabeth was pregnant with a baby must have come as a shock to Mary. What kind of shock is it? This is what Gabriel said, “For nothing will be impossible with God.” Perhaps Maria said, 'It really is. No word of God is impossible. How old Elizabeth has a baby. She would have said, 'Hallelujah.' Now what does Mary answer? Look at verse 38. She said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word. And the angel departed from her.” Everyone! Finally, Maria confesses. What does she confess? She fully accepts the word, saying, "I am the servant of God; let it be done to me according to the word of her master." Truly, I earnestly wish that all the words of God that are not impossible for me and for you, your family, and our community will come true as they are. Dear all! Look at Heavenly Father. Look at our Heavenly Father who has done such a great thing for me and for you. Look at our Savior Jesus. Look at Jesus Himself who came down to such a low place for me and for you. Look at the grace of being conceived by the Holy Spirit and born again by the Holy Spirit for me and you. It is you and I who have truly received the grace that we cannot bear. Dear all! Salvation never comes from me and you. It comes only from the name Jesus. That's why it's safe, unshakable, and forever solid. If the basis for salvation is us, we will be shaken day by day in the uncertainty of salvation. But salvation comes from God, who generously gave up his Son to us, from Jesus, who became our substitute with joy through obedience to death, and from the Holy Spirit, who came into us and made us completely born again to become children of God. That is why we praise the very name Jesus forever and ever. Amen.
